The BSE Sensex opened with a positive gap of 10 points at 5,179. Fresh buying in the markets led the index spurt to a high of 5,204. The index is now at 5,195, up 26 points. The Nifty is up 7 points at 1,634.

Automobile retail sales in India rose 11 per cent in September as better supplies from manufacturers enabled dealers to ramp up customer deliveries amid the ongoing festive period, Federation Of Automobile Dealers Associations said on Tuesday.
